Celebrating great American folk, ballads, light rock and blues.
Welcome!

Vintage Fare is a great band that hails from Carmichael, CA.

Our sound might be described as "amplified acoustic," with an emphasis on tight vocal harmonies. Our repertoire is loosely focused on the folk and ballads of the sixties era, but we also do light rock and blues. We're certainly no "tribute" band, and, despite the sixties influence, we cover music from decades before and after - as well as our own originals.

For samples of our sounds, visit our web page for Forever Young, our first CD.

Alan Klein is arguably the founder of Vintage fare, and three of us worked with Alan in a former band. Alan has a stellar voice with a unique timbre, well suited to both vocal leads and harmonies. Alan also plays a classic Martin acoustic guitar.

Dave Lyman is another of our guitar-playing vocalists. His voice and guitar styles both compliment Alan's.

Cynthia Peterson is a "natural" vocalist. With no formal training whatsoever, her several voices cause jaws to drop and goose-bumps to rise. With harmony backing from Alan, Dave, and Chuck, Cynthia's soulful deliveries and powerful dynamics are amazing crowds at many venues.

Chuck Cole, our newest member, is also a member of The New Christie Minstrels. Chuck is an unusually accomplished musician. If it has strings, Chuck plays it; guitar, mandolin, banjo, Dobro, bass, fiddle - that we know of, so far. He also lends a fine voice to our vocals.

Wes Peterson is Vintage Fare's harmonica player, sound techie and webmaster. His unique first and second position harmonica styles range from subtle, violin-like backings, through gentle chords and riffs, to energetic solos.

News:

2011 is shaping up to be a great year for Vintage Fare.

In addition to our monthly appearance at The Lido, we were:
  • Invited back to perform the closing show for A Taste of Carmichael,
  • Engaged to play a wonderful private birthday party in Shingle Springs,
  • Hired to provide the entertainment for Congressman John Garamendi's re-election fund-raiser on Garamenti's beautiful ranch near Molulmne Hill (over 1,200 tickets were sold!)
  • Invited to return to the California State Fare, with two of our performances taking Center Stage.
As if that weren't enough, we're presently in the studio working on our second CD.

Keep an eye on our calendar, much is coming.
